Goodbye Naoko!

Ok, let's see - stuff from the last couple weeks including: Naoko's goodbye party, some random Niigata nights and camping on Sado...

And more importantly, it seems like we have a few new friends - and long as my "act cool" thing worked.

Just returned from my first pilgrimage back to the homeland. Got some quality lake and pool time in. As well as a bunch of crazy Buffalo and Rochester boozing in.

Here's the blackmail...

Thanks to you and all the girls for an absolutely fabulous weekend! I wish we could do it all the time! I'll miss you and so will the 56 cats, Wegmans subs, and those two random skoomoos we ran into at Eddie O'Briens heh heh...here's to free beer! Thu 11-Aug-2005 16:06

Wow - the Moran, the Shenkman, the Barry, and all in one week - Curran, you managed to cover all the bases I needed to cover, so kudos to you. I'm missing that lake every goddammed day in this humidity... Sat 13-Aug-2005 02:57

Since the weather has gotten fantastic and we've missed out on the venerable rainy season, we've had a few beach bbqs and picnics...

Maki Town held it's summer festival last week... so we got to see a ton of random parades and kids in happis.

Sunday night we capped the weekend with a fantastic beach barbeque!

Good lord, don't look like you're having too much fun in the parade! Mon 20-Jun-2005 16:30

Ooook, so from the last few weeks... I did a day of teaching at the nursery school and remembered my camera. Then I did a solo hike of Mt Kakuda on the most beautiful day yet in Japan.

Other shots - Brandon and I introducing sake bombs to a salaryman, and a night of karaoke in Maki in honor of Kate's 4 friends visiting from the States.

Oh My God Australia!

Wow, two weeks in Australia have changed my life. Where I used to be ambitious and interested in doing meaningful things, I now have decided that I would be totally fine working as a Japanese correspondant for McDonalds (Makadonarudo) in Sydney, or making subs at Subway (I have 22 years of sandwich making experience, can't be that hard?) or running a bottle shop on Oxford and working only 16 hours a week. I'm currently looking into my retirement visa so I can move straight there after this teaching English thing ends.

sigggggghhh.
